baby updates, christmas trees & missing teeth!

ok- i am sure by the heading some of you are wondering how all these fit together...they don't but i needed to update a few things so i figured i would do it all at once!

so let me start by updating you on the status of baby burleigh. i am 16 weeks pregnant (i know i look bigger but give me a break, it was thanksgiving so my tummy was full! ha ha) and i can feel little flutters every now & then. everything seems to be right on track. we had an appointment last week & it still amazes me when we get to hear the heartbeat!! we go back on december 30th to find out the sex. i will be happy with either, however the two men in my life are hoping for a girl so we will see what happens!! here is a picture of my belly at thanksgiving...

next- the christmas tree...we did our big family christmas tree the other night. i love our tree! it is beautiful!
and then there was sterling's little charlie brown tree that i bought him last year for christmas. i thought it would be cute for him to decorate his own tree. it came out adorable but how come the pictures on the side of the box never look like what actually comes out of the box?? i felt jippped!
how cute are these pictures though!!
and last but not least, missing teeth...that is right every one- sterling lost his first tooth today!!! YIPPEE!! he looks adorable!! here is a pic of the missing tooth. hopefully the tooth fairy visits him tonight :)

Updates

Hello! It looks like, minus the wedding picture website update, we have not updated our blog since Dave's birthday. As I am sure that you can guess, things have happened since then.........

One of Dave's birthday gifts was a bag full of baby clothes. WE ARE HAVING A BABY! He, or hopefully SHE is due on May 23rd. We are so excited about the new arrival! So far, we have seen the flutter of the heart, and heart the heart beat last Thursday! We will continue to update as new milestones hit.

On October 10th, we had two special occasions. It was our second wedding ceremony, as well as our two month anniversary. It was such a blast, and was so good to see so many family members and friends. The photos can be viewed at http://www.shaughnessy.smugmug.com/gallery/6209579_Kzoqa#391543331_GaLJG

On October 12th, we boarded a plane to Orange County! After an hour and half of detours, our shuttle driver finally made it to the Long Beach Harbor. Nicole managed to get us mixed in with someones wedding party, so we were able to board before anyone else. We spent the first two days getting spa treatments and playing bingo. Finally on Wednesday, we made it to our first port, Puerto Vallerta. Unfortunately, there was a small accident while there. As we were boarding a smaller boat to head to the sea lion's, the boat shifted away from the dock. In the process, Dave fractured his shoulder, tore his bicep, and tore his labrum in a couple places.

On Thursday, we went to Mazatlan. We did a city tour, watched a tribal show, did some shopping, and finished up with a relaxing afternoon at a beach resort. It was nice to just lounge around and soak up some sun!

On Friday, we stopped at Cabo! How beautiful that place is! We spent the day taking a boat tour of Land's End, a quick swim in the ocean, and then a shopping tour. It is such a lovely city, and the people are so nice! Definitely worth a trip down there.

Saturday was another relaxing day at sea. Dave had a follow-up with the ship doctor, or gave him some good meds. Turned out to be a synthetic opium, but it was funny to see. Have you ever seen a grown man tell people how to get to Sesame Street? Imagine that going through security and customs. But at least he felt better!

We arrived home and begin the process of seeing the doctors and surgeons. Dave is undergoing surgery on Monday November 17th to re-attach his labrum.

Please check back, as we will upload pictures of honeymoon over the following days!

Disneyland Half Marathon

So as some of you know, I took on the challenge of running the Disneyland half Marathon on August 31st. I got talked into doing it by my cousin Kenzie. She is a Disneyland freak and I though, "what the heck...it is the happiest place on earth right!" So I started training for it. Little did I know that I would get engaged (to the most wonderful man in the world might i add) in the middle of training!! Silly Colie! Anyways- so i basically took 8 weeks off from running....however, the family still drove to Cali on the 28th and i prepared for the marathon.
Sterling had his own little race on Saturday the 30th. It was adorable! All these little kids doing a 200 meter dash. I will have to add his pictures later. (i still have to order them. we didn't get a good shot because there were too many people and it was hard to see him over the crowd).

On Sunday, Kenzie and I ran our race. 13.1 miles! what a challenge. As many of you know, I love to cycle, not run. So the fact that I signed up & actually finished the race was a huge accomplishment. Yes, I will even admit when I crossed the finish line, I had a tear in my eye. I couldn't beleive that I, Nicole Burleigh, had finished the race! I was so proud of myself & Kenzie!

So after the marathon, we decided to brave Disneyland & California Adventure all day. Yes, after running 13.1 miles, I walked Disneyland until 9pm that night! Talk about being sore! I am still not sure who had more fun on the rides....Dave or Sterling! It was so much fun and we got some great pictures. I think one of our favorite rides was Soaring Over California. It is amazing. If you ever go to California Adventure, make sure you hit that ride! We went on a ride called Great Rapids ( I think that is the name) and I am not sure what happened but all I know is I was SOAKED and Dave somehow stayed dry!! Although I was soaked, it kept me cool :) Sterling met a lot of the characters, but I think Pluto was his favorite. We figured out where to stand so when the characters were trying to get away, we ambushed them!! On some it workes, others just ran by...

So our first Burleigh Family trip was amazing! we have so many great memories from the trip! I hope you all enjoy the pictures!!

Love- Cole

WOW..its been a while :)

Well- we have not updated anything for a long time!! So as many of you know, we got married on August 10th up in beautiful Heber, AZ. I have not posted pictures because we are having another ceremony/ reception in October for friends & family that couldn't be there and I don't want to ruin the surprise!! The wedding was absolutely perfect. The weather was beautiful. It usually rains everyday in Heber during monsoon season, however on our wedding day, there were nothing but blue skies. It really was a beautiful day.

So now it has almost been a month since we got married and I have to say, I love being married!!! I have the most amazing husband. Everyday he amazes me more & more. He is the most kind, loving, funny, respectful man I know. I truely feel blessed that he chose me to share his life with.

This blog started as a way to communicate with our family & friends about things that are going on in our lives and we have decided to make this our "Burleigh Family Blog". You will be able to come here and see what all of us have been up too! As stated before, check back from time to time! Information & announcements about the wedding will be posted and of course we love to read everyones comments!!

Introduction to Blogging

Ok people, lets have a quick Intro to Blogging 101 class. At the bottom of every entry, there is a hyperlink that says post comments. By clicking on this, you will be taken to a screen to enter your comments that everyone can read. This is how we know what others are saying. If you do leave a comment, keep in mind that both of us will see the comment, so lets try to be excited and/or happy for both of us. Just a thought, you know. So, after you enter your comment, we can read the comment and respond, thus begins true blogging. This method works on every blog, including http://davejohnsenate2010.blogspot.com . Have fun, and enjoy the blogs!

Mesa Questions

Where does the snow go, when it comes down?

Why doesn't it fall in this God-forsaken town?

How does the wind blow, and how does it rain?

Who gives us pleasure, and who gives us pain?

Why are we happy, and why are we sad?

Who makes us grateful, and what makes us glad?

How do we laugh, and how do we cry?

Who makes us live, and who makes us die?

Why are we here today, gone tomorrow?

How do we live one day with happiness, the next with sorrow?

What makes us play games with the heart?

How do we miss a chance, before one shall depart?

Why do we forsake those we love?

Is there a hell, a heaven above?

These are the questions, of answers I don't see,

But one final question, who brought you to me?

Ruth 1:16-17

"Entreat me not to leave you,

Or to turn back from following after you;

For wherever you go, I will go;

And wherever you lodge, I will lodge;

Your people shall be my people,

And your God, my God.

Where you die, I will die,

And there will I be buried.

The Lord do so to me, and more also,

If anything but death parts you and me."
